Senior leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Asad Qaiser, has raised objections to Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) releasing images and videos of a meeting between his PTI delegation and JUI-F chief, Fazlur Rehman.

Condolences Over Bajaur Incident

Qaiser, a former National Assembly speaker, emphasized that the PTI delegation’s meeting with JUI-F chief was intended to offer condolences regarding the Bajaur incident. This tragic event involved a suicide bombing targeting a JUI-F workers’ convention, resulting in the loss of over 40 lives in July of this year.

High-Level PTI Delegation Meets with PDM Head

On Thursday, a high-level PTI delegation, approved by PTI Chairman Imran Khan, which included Asad Qaiser, Ali Muhammad Khan, Barrister Saif, and Junaid Akbar, met with the head of the (PDM) in the federal capital.

Significant Meeting Amid Political Differences

This meeting holds unique significance as both the PTI and JUI-F have been staunch critics of each other over the years. Initially, Qaiser had downplayed the political aspect of the meeting, stating that the PTI delegation had come to offer condolences, specifically “over the demise of Fazl’s mother-in-law.”

Political Nature of the Meeting

However, sources have indicated that the hour-long meeting did have political undertones, involving discussions about the political situation in the country. The meeting aimed to pave the way for political discourse in the current politically charged environment.

Efforts Toward Political Reconciliation

It’s noteworthy that Muhammad Ali Durrani, a leader of the Pakistan Muslim League Functional (PML-F) and a former senator, has been actively engaging with various stakeholders for the purpose of “political reconciliation” in recent months. In September, he had a “productive and helpful” meeting with President Arif Alvi. Durrani also met with the JUI-F chief, Fazlur Rehman, who subsequently agreed to play a role in national reconciliation.

Durrani highlighted Fazl’s stature as a national leader capable of facilitating national reconciliation.
