Bahrain has recalled its ambassador from Israel and halted economic relations due to its support for the Palestinian cause.

The Abraham Accord In September 2020, Bahrain, along with the United Arab Emirates (UAE), signed the Abraham Accord with Israel. The agreement aimed to establish normal relations between these Arab nations and Israel, with facilitation by the US.

Expanding Recognition The Abraham Accord expanded to include Sudan and Morocco, fostering recognition of Israel by more Arab countries and promoting trade deals and military cooperation.

Tunisian Legislation Against Normalization Tunisia’s parliament is considering a bill that would criminalize “normalization” with Israel. Normalization, as defined in the draft law, involves recognizing the “Zionist entity” or establishing direct or indirect ties with it, constituting “high treason.”

Penalties for Normalization Individuals found guilty of normalizing relations with Israel could face prison sentences of 6 to 10 years and fines ranging from 10,000 to 100,000 dinars (approximately $3,155 to $31,553). Repeat offenses could lead to life imprisonment.
