A delegation consisting of four members from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has arrived in Pakistan today to engage in crucial discussions ahead of the upcoming cricket season.
Led by BCCI President Roger Binny and accompanied by Vice-President Rajeev Shukla, the delegation crossed the Wagah Border for a two-day visit to Pakistan.
According to media reports, the essence of this significant journey is centered around the sport of cricket, emphasizing the importance of cricketing connections over political considerations.
Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman, the Governor of Punjab, is expected to host an official dinner in their honor tonight, with the presence of other notable figures.
The primary agenda for the delegation includes bilateral talks with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), with a focus on discussions regarding the upcoming World Cup in 2023, to be hosted in India.
In addition to these crucial dialogues, the delegates are scheduled to attend live cricket action during a match between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan at the Gaddafi Stadium.
Rajeev Shukla, in a statement to the media before departing for Pakistan, clarified that the purpose of the visit to Pakistan is exclusively related to cricket matters and not political issues. He emphasized, “There is no political agenda involved. This is a two-day visit, and the dinner organized by the Punjab Governor is part of our itinerary for this evening.”
