Jos Buttler, the captain of the England cricket team, has expressed the team’s strong desire to rectify their performance at the ongoing ICC Men’s World Cup 2023 in India. He emphasized their commitment to securing a place in the 2025 Champions Trophy through a top-eight finish, as reported by Reuters.
After a five-match losing streak, the 2019 World Cup champions managed to secure a resounding 160-run victory over the Netherlands in Pune. This victory propelled them from the bottom of the standings to the seventh position with four points.
The next Champions Trophy, which will include eight teams, will be held in Pakistan.
Buttler told reporters, “We’d like to leave India putting in a proper performance. We haven’t performed the way we wanted to this whole trip.” I believe that despite everyone’s frustration, the lads have remained united. They likely trained just as hard as they had the whole trip, demonstrating their degree of dedication.
He acknowledged the significance of the upcoming match, noting, “Not playing for what we wanted to be playing for, but a really vital match for us in the grand scheme of things. It’s great to be heading there with something on the line.”
