In a recent address to party workers in Buner, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) emphasized the need for a universally acceptable decision by the nation on February 8. Khan called for an end to disputes and a ceasefire, despite the injustices faced by PTI.
Highlighting PTI’s efficient conduct of intra-party elections among the 175 political parties, Khan contrasted it with the acceptance of smaller-scale elections by other political entities. He raised questions about the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) reluctance to acknowledge PTI’s intra-party elections held in a crowded assembly, pointing out the contrasting approval of elections by other parties conducted in smaller settings.
Khan criticized the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) for not conducting intra-party elections in any province. He pointed out that the ECP only accepted elections for four seats as intra-party elections.
Regarding the withdrawal of PTI’s electoral symbol, the “bat,” Khan expressed confidence in regaining the lost symbol. Despite complaints with the judiciary and state institutions, he emphasized PTI’s consistent trust in the judiciary.
He urged PTI employees to have patience and tolerance on February 8 and emphasized the significance of guaranteeing an unhindered road for the people’s voice on election day.
