Fuel Shortage Continues to Disrupt PIA Flights

Passengers are enduring ongoing problems as Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) grapples with a fuel shortage that has persisted for several days. On Tuesday, hundreds of travelers suffered when dozens of PIA flights were either canceled or rescheduled. Reports indicate that the national carrier canceled 24 flights, including 13 international and 11 domestic flights.

Operational Challenges

In addition to the fuel shortage, 12 other flights were delayed on the same day due to various operational issues. PIA has also announced the cancellation of 24 more flights for today, comprising 16 international and eight domestic flights.

Confirmed Fuel Shortage

A PIA spokesperson confirmed that the flight cancellations were primarily due to an inadequate supply of fuel. Passengers have been advised to contact the PIA call center, visit PIA offices, or get in touch with their travel agent to obtain information about their flights before heading to the airport.

The Fuel Supply Challenge

The Pakistan State Oil (PSO) has requested Rs. 100 million daily to restore fuel supply to normal levels. In recent developments, the Caretaker Prime Minister ordered the expedited privatization process of PIA.
