Interim Chief Minister of Punjab, Mohsin Naqvi, has officially announced a public holiday in Lahore on September 7th (Thursday) to commemorate the annual Urs of Data Ganj Bakhsh Syed Ali Hajveri.
The declaration was made by the Chief Minister during his visit to Data Darbar, where he shared that the Urs ceremony will span three days, commencing on Tuesday.
In order to accommodate the large number of attendees, a langar khana (community kitchen) is being set up. Naqvi emphasized, “We have a responsibility to ensure that every participant in the event has access to nourishment.”
Furthermore, a special mehfil-e-samaa featuring renowned qawwals has been organized. CM Naqvi confirmed that preparations for Chehlum, processions, and the Urs are progressing smoothly.
To address concerns about potential traffic congestion, a comprehensive traffic management plan is in the works. Parking arrangements will also be arranged, pending security clearance.
In addition to the ongoing events, the Chief Minister mentioned forthcoming expansion projects for Data Darbar, including plans for the shrine and adjacent mosques.
