The cricketing world found itself in a state of bewilderment due to a series of contentious decisions made by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) regarding the venue for the Asia Cup 2023.
The to-and-fro between the ACC and BCCI, including the Pakistan-India match, has garnered strong criticism from the cricketing community.
The controversy erupted when the BCCI, representing the ACC, notified the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) of an abrupt change in the venue for the Super Four stage match.
However, in an unexpected turn of events, the ACC later renounced its own email, firmly asserting that the upcoming matches would proceed as originally scheduled.
Former PCB Chairman, Najam Sethi, expressed strong disapproval of ACC President Jay Shah, alleging that he had turned the Asia Cup schedule into a farce.
Sethi went on to suggest that the ongoing controversy might imply India’s apprehension about facing Pakistan due to the fear of a potential loss.
He shared weather forecast screenshots, highlighting that the chance of rain in Colombo stands at 60 to 70 percent, while in Hambantota, it ranges from 10 to 20 percent.
It’s noteworthy that Pakistan and India are scheduled to meet again on September 10 in Colombo, following the cancellation of their group stage match due to heavy rain.
