Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif has left London, marking the end of his self-imposed exile, which spanned four years. His return to Pakistan is eagerly anticipated.
Umrah in Saudi Arabia and Gathering in Pakistan
Nawaz Sharif’s journey begins with a visit to Saudi Arabia, where he will perform Umrah. Following his spiritual pilgrimage, he will spend three days in Dubai before embarking on the final leg of his journey to Pakistan. On October 21, Nawaz Sharif is scheduled to address a gathering at Minar-e-Pakistan, a historic location, where he will outline his agenda for the upcoming elections.
As Nawaz left the Avenfield flats, his London residence, marking the conclusion of his exile, he received a heartfelt farewell from his staff, family members, and party workers.
Accompanied by Trusted Companions
For his visit to Saudi Arabia, Nawaz Sharif is accompanied by a group of trusted individuals, including his close friend Mian Nasir Janjua, his aide Waqar Ahmed, Karim Yousaf, and a few others. Mian Nasir Janjua, the owner of MIDJAC company, spent nearly three years in exile alongside Nawaz in London, but he returned to Pakistan a few months ago.
Important Meetings in Saudi Arabia and Stay in Dubai
During his week-long stay in Saudi Arabia, Nawaz Sharif will engage in significant meetings and discussions. He is expected to arrive in Dubai on October 17.
“Umeed-e-Pakistan” Flight: Nawaz’s Journey Home
Nawaz Sharif’s return to Pakistan is planned via a special chartered plane named “Umeed-e-Pakistan,” which can accommodate approximately 150 passengers. All the necessary arrangements have been made for the journey. Nawaz, accompanied by party members and journalists, will depart from Dubai for Pakistan on October 21. The special flight will first land in Islamabad and then proceed to Lahore, where Nawaz will address a gathering organized by his party supporters.
No Arrest Expected Upon Return
Ishaq Dar, a senior leader of PML-N, has reassured that there is no anticipation of Nawaz Sharif’s arrest upon his return to Pakistan. The party will follow standard legal procedures, obtaining transit bail and protective bail from the court. Ishaq Dar emphasized that the party’s focus will be on the economy, declaring, “Recovery of the economy is the best revenge.”
Nawaz Sharif’s return to Pakistan marks a significant moment in the country’s political landscape. This return concludes his second period of exile, following his initial deposition in a bloodless military coup in 1999.
