Nokia and Cybernet, a leading fixed-line telecommunications provider in Pakistan, have jointly introduced Pakistan’s inaugural Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) network, boasting an impressive 600Gbps per wavelength. This advanced network underscores Cybernet’s commitment to delivering high-capacity, resilient connectivity that can meet the demands of even the most discerning customers. It connects Cybernet’s primary metro sites, enhancing network capacity to support the growing need for fast, high-quality broadband services across Pakistan.

Strengthening Global Footprint

In addition to fortifying its presence on the global stage, Cybernet has strategically established international points of presence (POPs) in key locations, including MC-1 in Barka (Oman), MRS-2 in Marseille (France), SmartHub in Fujairah (UAE), and SG1 in Singapore. At these international POPs, Cybernet offers its global peering community members access to an advanced Internet Exchange Point (IXP) platform, driven by Nokia’s cutting-edge 7750 SR and 7250 IXR routers. This platform ensures optimal connection capacity to cater to both present and future requirements, delivering a range of services such as Internet, Ethernet VPN (EVPN), and Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) with robust Quality of Service (QoS) features.

Addressing the Need for High-Speed Broadband

In response to the surging demand for high-speed broadband access and network capabilities, network operators are actively seeking to upgrade their optical networks. Cybernet, dedicated to enabling its customers to access top-tier high-speed services, has partnered with Nokia to introduce a future-proof optical network capable of delivering over 600Gbps per lambda. This enhancement bolsters the capacity and speed of the network connecting vital metro sites within Pakistan. Harnessing Nokia’s PSS 1830 optical transport platform, Cybernet can efficiently scale its entire network capacity to an impressive 28Tbps, effectively serving broadband and enterprise customers across the nation.

Advanced Optical Network with Flexgrid Technology

Cybernet has successfully implemented Nokia’s advanced integrated Reconfigurable Optical Add-Drop Multiplexer (ROADM) architecture, built on flexgrid technology. This deployment empowers Cybernet to optimize and extend the reach of its optical network, thereby ensuring more efficient and expansive coverage.

Enhanced Operational Efficiency

Nokia’s WaveSuite service enablement automation software supplements the network with additional software management and control functionalities. This enhancement allows Cybernet to further enhance operational efficiencies, providing low latency, superior quality of services, and an enriched customer experience to its broadband and enterprise clientele.

Maroof Ali Shahani, COO of Cybernet, stated, “Using Nokia’s innovative in-house PSE-Vs chipset with super-coherent optical engines allows us to connect our main sites while also giving us headroom to grow our capacity efficiently and cost-effectively. Through our partnership with Nokia, we can meet our customers’ increasing demand for the best connectivity services while also enabling them to benefit from the latest innovations within optical technology.”

Manuel Ortiz Fernandez, VP of EMEA Webscale Business at Nokia, noted, “Having a high-speed optical network that enables the delivery of its advanced IXP platform powered by Nokia’s routers is critical for Cybernet to keep up with today’s fast-paced digital landscape. We are thrilled to contribute to the establishment of Pakistan’s first 600G optical network, which will enhance Cybernet’s capacity for data transfer, lower latency, increase network dependability, and save a substantial amount of money.”
