Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has successfully secured fuel for approximately 36 flights today, having disbursed Rs220 million to Pakistan State Oil (PSO). This development follows a recent disruption in PIA’s flight schedule due to fuel shortages.

A temporary agreement has been reached between PIA and PSO for daily fuel supply, as reported by PSO. The revised schedule for the national airline indicates that fuel provisions have been made for flights over the next two days. Additionally, PSO has indicated that further fuel requests have been submitted for outbound flights.

Between October 1 and 19, the state oil company has supplied PIA with fuel valued at Rs3.6 billion. During this month, PIA’s current liabilities have exceeded Rs2 billion, while its outstanding debts of Rs26 billion are already part of the circular debt.

The fuel shortages at PIA have led to disruptions in travel plans for passengers, resulting in flight cancellations and delays, leaving travelers stranded at airports.

In response to the situation, the government has confirmed its efforts to address the fuel shortage issue. PIA, the national flag carrier, has also stated its commitment to improving its financial performance.

Impact on Passengers:

Passengers with bookings on PIA flights are advised to verify the status of their flights before heading to the airport. They should also prepare for potential delays and cancellations.

For passengers experiencing disruptions to their travel plans, PIA’s customer service can be contacted for assistance and guidance.
