Controversial Crowd Conduct During High-Stakes Cricket Clash
In a highly anticipated encounter on October 14 in the ICC Cricket World Cup, India emerged victorious, securing a seven-wicket win against Pakistan. However, the behavior of certain fans in the crowd at Ahmedabad Stadium during the match has drawn significant criticism.
Allegations of Misbehavior Towards Pakistani Players
Pakistani fans were notably absent from the crowd, as they were denied visas to attend the match. This absence, combined with the conduct of some Indian fans, drew swift condemnation on social media. Reports surfaced of Indian fans taunting Pakistan captain Babar Azam, and Pakistani player Rizwan was allegedly targeted with offensive pro-Hindu slogans and inappropriate language while heading to the pavilion. Videos capturing these incidents quickly went viral.
PCB’s Complaint to the ICC
In response to these incidents, the PCB lodged an official complaint with the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding the inappropriate behavior of the crowd during the Pakistan vs. India match in Ahmedabad. The PCB expressed its concern to the governing body, highlighting that the Pakistani squad had been inappropriately targeted during the match. Additionally, the PCB protested the delay in granting Indian visas to Pakistani journalists and fans.
