Zaka Ashraf, the Chairman of the PCB Management Committee, addressed the media on Monday and discussed the board’s plans post the World Cup. During the conversation, he also raised concerns about the fitness of players who were granted No Objection Certificates (NOC) to participate in leagues before the World Cup, which, in his opinion, affected their fitness during the tournament.
In regard to Pakistan’s performance in the World Cup, Zaka highlighted that even defending champions England had a lower standing on the points table. He emphasized the need to avoid criticizing players during the tournament to maintain their morale and confidence. Ashraf stated that a thorough evaluation would be conducted by experts after the World Cup.
Zaka expressed his belief that cricketers worldwide receive substantial pay, and he suggested increasing players’ compensation for representing the national team. He also proposed a model where players could participate in a limited number of leagues, followed by a break from league commitments to fulfill their national duties.
Zaka made it clear that his focus is on improving Pakistan cricket and that he has no political agenda. He mentioned his previous attempts to collaborate with Najam Sethi for the betterment of Pakistan cricket.
