Renowned Pakistani actress Sanam Saeed has emphasized the importance of showing compassion for deporting refugees from Pakistan. In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), the star of “Zindagi Gulzar Hai” called for a shift in the collective perspective on this matter, emphasizing that deporting refugees will not resolve fundamental issues the country faces. Sanam Saeed stressed the need to show more mercy in a world currently grappling with various challenges.

Increased crackdown on Afghan refugees – A crackdown on Afghan refugees has intensified in Pakistan following the expiration of the deadline for their return to Afghanistan on October 31. As of now, 143,135 Afghan refugees have been repatriated. Many illegal residents are concentrated at the Torkhan border. Border forces have been in contact with Afghan officials, and the Torkham border will remain open until 11 pm.

In Lahore, more than 70 illegal foreign nationals were arrested for not possessing residence permits and were taken to holding centers. The deportation of illegal refugees is taking place in phases, with Faisalabad and Sargodha prioritized, followed by Lahore and other cities.

Illegally residing Afghan refugees in Pakistan continue to return to Afghanistan through the Chaman border.
